The Best Summer Day in Brunswick, Maine

There’s no better time to enjoy the beautiful town of Brunswick than summer. Whether hiking, biking, boating, or relaxing, we’ve got you covered with ideas to please everyone in your group!

7:30 am

Rock on the front porch at OneSixtyFive with a cup of coffee and watch downtown Brunswick come to life. If it’s a Tuesday or Friday, you’ll see the farmers market vendors setting up right across Park Row. Stroll over to pick up fresh berries or baby gem lettuces, coffee, pies, bread, and more. If it’s Saturday, this happens on an even grander scale up at Crystal Springs Farm, just a 5-minute drive away.

10:00 am

Head out to Harpswell–a 15 minute drive–for a hike along the Cliff Trail or the Giant Stairs. Cliff Trail is one of the most popular trails in Harpswell and includes a shore walk along tidal Strawberry Creek and spectacular views from 150-foot cliffs overlooking Long Reach. Unbroken preserved forest stretches to the east and south of Long Reach. The Giant Stairs are a geological wonder, and the trail follows the rocky coastline and affords incredible views of the crashing surf of eastern Casco Bay.

12:00

For lunch, not too much in this world can compete with a lobster roll and the priceless ocean view at The Dolphin Restaurant and Marina. Watch the boats come in, stroll the sweeping lawn to the ocean's edge, and soak up some sun on the deck.

3:00 pm

Back in Brunswick, wander through Gulf of Maine bookshop, where owner poet/owner Gary Lawless regales shoppers with tales of his travels, and Hatch Home, where you can find one-of-a-kind gifts for yourself and your friends. Flip through the vinyl at Deep Groove or Finestkind. And by now you're ready for Gelato Fiasco. This is a don’t-miss-it stop for a taste of Italy right here in midcoast Maine.

4:00 pm

Stop in at Center Street Cycles to pick up your bike rental for tomorrow morning’s cycling adventure.

4:30 pm

Back to OneSixtyFive. Relax in the Library with your new purchases. Take a 20 minute nap by mistake.

6:00 pm

Enjoy a Maine Beer Company IPA or a perfect martini in Pub165 before heading to dinner downtown. Walk to Enoteca Athena for some handmade pasta or sushi at Little Tokyo. Or maybe Indian? or German. Or Vietnamese. All walkable.

9:00 pm

Time to turn in and rest up for an early start to tomorrow. Cycling to Harraseeket Lobster and Lunch, then digging your toes in the sand at Popham Beach!
